Strong showing for Carlin in Estoril

Antonio Felix da Costa finished the final day of GP3 testing in Estoril third fastest for Carlin today, while Alex Brundle and William Buller set the thirteenth and sixteenth fastest times of the afternoon session at the Portuguese circuit.

Antonio Felix da Costa showed the pace of the Carlin GP3 car today, in the first official test of the season in Estoril. The Portuguese racer looked quick on home soil, and went fastest in the final stages of this afternoon’s session. Last minute improvements by two other driver relegated da Costa to third place by the chequered flag. British racers William Buller and Alex Brundle also put in a strong performance, with Brundle making his debut with Carlin and in the GP3 Series.

Carlin will take part in the first GP3 Series test of the new season this week at Estoril with confirmed 2012 driver Alex Brundle who will be joined by Antonio Felix da Costa and Will Buller. The team will complete two days of official testing at the Portuguese circuit, before moving to Barcelona in March.

Carlin’s Conor Daly set the fastest time in this afternoon’s official GP3 test in Valencia. The young American has been a frontrunner throughout the two day test and set the fastest time in today’s afternoon session with just 10 minutes remaining. Tom Blomqvist enjoyed a consistent day in the second Carlin car and was eleventh quickest.

Carlin’s GP3 team will field two cars in this week’s official test in Valencia as the squad continue to prepare for the 2012 season. Conor Daly, William Buller and Tom Blomqvist will all participate in the two day test, with Buller and Blomqvist making their GP3 debuts.

Carlin’s Carlos Huertas was on the pace in GP3 testing today, on the first day of official testing at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona. The British F3 front runner was on impressive form on his GP3 debut, finishing both the morning and afternoon sessions third quickest.

It was a story of mixed fortunes for Carlin’s GP3 drivers today, in the final race of the 2011 season. American racer Conor Daly had the podium in his sights from his third place grid slot, but had little chance to show his potential after being taken out of the race in the early stages. It was left to team mate Callum MacLeod to show the pace of the Carlin car – who came through from 11th to cross the line in the points in 5th place. Leonardo Cordeiro also failed to finish after spinning out whilst in 12th.

Carlin’s GP3 drivers Conor Daly, Callum McLeod and Leonardo Cordeiro enjoyed a strong race around the Monza circuit in Italy this afternoon, thanks to an impressive showing in the penultimate race of the season. Following a difficult qualifying session all three drivers fought back to make their way through the field, with Daly putting in a stunning drive to sixth, McLeod to 11th and Cordeiro to 13th.

In was an eventful outing for Carlin’s GP3 team today, in the final race of the weekend at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium. Conor Daly had the podium in his sights with a fourth place grid slot but a spin on lap one saw the American cross the line seventh. Leonardo Cordeiro crossed the line 16th, despite running for the majority of the race in 11th, while Callum Macleod failed to finish after an accident on lap one.

GP3 driver Conor Daly took a fifth place finish for Carlin today in race one of the weekend at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium. The 19 year-old American started sixth and moved up to fifth in the early stages, putting in a flawless drive to hold onto the position despite intense pressure from behind. Leonardo Cordeiro had a chaotic race to finish 21st while Callum Macleod was taken out of contention on lap one after contact with another car.

Carlin’s Conor Daly continued to improve in this season’s competitive GP3 Series, taking a seventh place qualifying slot ahead of this afternoon’s race at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium. Following the disqualification of another driver ahead of him, Daly will line up sixth later this afternoon. Team mate Leonardo Cordeiro also took his best qualifying position of the season in 19th and will now line up 18th, Callum Macleod was 30th after getting just one flying lap on slick tyres at the end of the session, but will line up 29th.

Carlin’s Conor Daly took his first points paying finish in the GP3 Series today, following a thrilling rain affected race at the Nürburgring in Germany. The 19 year-old American made up ten places having started from 16th place. Team mate Leonardo Cordeiro finished 17th, while GP3 rookie Callum McLeod finished at the back of the field following a tyre gamble early on in the race.

Carlin are pleased to announce that British Driver Callum Macleod will be joining the team for the remainder of the 2011 season. The former Autosport McLaren BRDC nominee has already tasted success in the British Formula Ford championship and the European Formula 3 Open championship and has previous experience of Carlin’s GP3 car. Macleod will race alongside the team’s regular drivers; Conor Daly and Leonardo Cordeiro.

Eventful weekend at Silverstone

It was a mixed weekend for Carlin’s GP3 team at Silverstone. A disappointing qualifying session was followed by some feisty racing once again by Conor Daly who finished 15th in race one and seventh in the second race of the weekend. Leonardo Cordeiro took a 18th and 23rd place finish. Daniel Morad was unable to take part in either race due to a severely damaged chassis following an accident in qualifying.

Conor Daly was the star of the show in round six of the 2011 GP3 Series today, with a spirited drive to seventh place in Valencia. The young American pushed hard from the outset to make the most of his 12th place grid slot, and finished just outside the points in his third European race event. Team mates Leonardo Cordeiro and Daniel Morad weren’t quite so happy with their races, after an incident at the start. Cordeiro managed to recover and cross the line 17th while Morad was forced to retire on lap one.

Carlin’s GP3 drivers made progress in the opening race in Valencia this afternoon, in hot and sunny conditions around the F1 street circuit. Leonardo Cordeiro pushed hard to finish 10th having lined up 24th, while Conor Daly crossed the line 12th with Morad 15th following a drive-through penalty.

Dillmann claims third on GP3 debut

Carlin’s Tom Dillmann took third place on his GP3 debut today, in round one of the 2011 GP3 Series. The GP3 rookie started from pole but lost out at the start to drop to third. From then on Dillmann was forced to defend heavily from fourth place man Valterri Bottas, but defended brilliantly to clinch third place. Team mate Conor Daly fought back well from 29th on the grid to cross the line 21st in his first ever race is Europe, while Leonardo Cordeiro was taken out of the race following an accident on lap five.

Tom Dillmann clinched the first pole position of the 2011 GP3 season today, in his first ever GP3 race weekend. The Frenchman stormed to pole in the dying minutes of the session, only to put in another lap capable of pole on his next attempt. In an immensely competitive session where all 30 drivers were covered by just 1.4 seconds, Leonardo Cordeiro qualified 28th, with GP3 rookie Conor Daly 29th.
