Brazilian racer Christian Hahn is the first driver to be confirmed in Carlin’s 2019 EuroFormula Open squad, the team are pleased to announce.  20-year-old Hahn joins Carlin for his third season in the championship and is aiming for race wins with the British team this year.

Following in the footsteps of former F3 racer and fellow countryman Felipe Nasr, Hahn will make his racing debut with Carlin this weekend in Paul Ricard in the EuroFormula Open Winter Series.

Speaking about his new team, Hahn said, “After a season of learning and last year a season of consolidation, I feel more prepared to fight for the top positions in 2019.  I feel there is some unfinished business after a disappointing season last year, particularly after some struggles in qualifying.  With a new team and new structure, I hope that we can work on this together to make the necessary steps forward up the grid.

“We did a test together at the end of last season and I was very impressed with the structure of the team and the way they worked; I feel confident that I am in the best place to achieve my goals this season.”

Trevor Carlin added, “We’re delighted to welcome Christian to the EuroFormula Open team.  He has been a delight to work with in the factory and we saw some real potential in him when he tested at the end of 2018.  The EuroFormula Open car is a great platform for drivers looking to move into FIA F3 and we will be working hard with him to bring together all the lessons he has learnt so far to help him achieve his maximum results this season.”

Hahn will take to the track this weekend for the EuroFormula Open Winter Series in Paul Ricard.  The young Brazilian will take part in several test sessions on Friday before a qualifying session and two races on Saturday.
