Kjaergaard announced in Carlin’s Euroformula Open team

Danish racer Nicolai Kjaergaard will join Carlin’s 2019 Euroformula Open squad it can be announced today. Kjaergaard has already raced with the British team in the BRDC British Formula Three Championship and will now move to the European Series as he joins the ever-expanding Championship for the upcoming year.

2018 saw Kjaergaard fighting for the BRDC British F3 Championship throughout the season; finishing the year as the Vice-Champion Kjaergaard’s brilliant track record cannot be disputed having taken a total of five impressive victories, ten podiums and three pole positions.

Kjaergaard now turns his attention to the European racing scene and will be out testing today (Friday) and tomorrow as the second, and final, official pre-season test gets underway in Barcelona ahead of the first Euroformula Open race event next month in Paul Ricard.

Kjaergaard said of the upcoming season, “It is fantastic to have signed for Carlin again. I am really looking forward to working with them and continuing my learning curve and results from last year. I feel like home within the team and they are very professional in their approach. Therefore, I’m am confident that we will have another strong season!”

Team Principal Trevor Carlin added, “It’s great to have Nicolai back with us for another season following what was an impressive year with us in the BRDC British F3 Championship. He proved to be an exciting racer to watch and he gave a good fight as he battled for the wins all season long. I look forward to continuing our strong relationship and can’t wait to see what he can achieve this year.”

The Euroformula Open Championship will see Carlin and Kjaergaard take part in a total nine rounds on some of the most famous tracks in the world. Taking on the challenges of Silverstone and Spa, both circuits at which Kjaergaard has experience, the series will also move to current Formula One venues in Hungary, Austria and Italy.
