Carlin is pleased to confirm that Barbados based driver Zane Maloney will join the team for the upcoming 2019 F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost. 2019 will mark Maloney’s debut season in single seater racing as he joins Carlin who have championed in all three of the F4 British Championships they have participated in.

15-year-old Maloney joins Carlin following a strong karting career; highlights of his 2018 season included finishing second overall in the SKUSA SuperNationals XXII – X30 Senior Class, third in the WSK Champions Cup, third in the German Kart Championship and fourth in the CIK FIA European championship. Prior to this, Maloney competed in various karting championships during 2016 and 2017. Now, with great experience under his belt, Maloney looks ahead to his very first season racing single seat racing cars.

Carlin re-join the British F4 Championship with an illustrious career in the championship to call upon – clinching the title in all three previous seasons they have competed in (2015, 2016 and 2017), Carlin have accumulated 36 wins and 98 podiums in total. Maloney has already been integrating himself with the British team with a pre-season testing programme and visits to the Surrey workshop.

Maloney said of joining the team. “I’m happy to start my single seater career with Carlin who have a track record of being successful in all formula racing that they participate in. Pre-season testing has gone well and I am looking forward to the challenge ahead of me. Thanks to my sponsors Bushy Park Barbados, SOL, Rock Hard Cement and Alpinestars for their continued support”

Team Principal Trevor Carlin said, “We are thrilled that Zane will be joining our British F4 team for this upcoming season as he begins his single seater career. Zane has already been working well with the team and made himself a strong member of the F4 programme – we really look forward to seeing what he can achieve over the course of the upcoming season.”

Maloney will continue his test programme with the team before the opening race of the season at Brands Hatch in April.
