Carlin Buzz Racing is pleased to confirm a three-car line up for the 66th Macau GP which will consist of 2019 FIA Formula Three season drivers Logan Sargeant and Felipe Drugovich. The rookie pair already have experience of the new FIA F3 car but will experience the challenges of the Guia circuit for the very first time. Joining them in the Carlin Buzz Racing line-up will be double Macau victor Dan Ticktum who has a wealth of experience to bring to the FIA F3 World Cup event.
The Carlin Buzz Racing team will head to Macau for the exciting race which will see the current FIA Formula Three cars take on the Guia circuit for the very first time. This change in chassis will also mark a brand-new era as the prestigious event welcomes the ten current FIA F3 teams to the grid with a potential bumper field of 30 talented drivers – all on Pirelli rubber.
Lining up for the 66th running of the Macau Grand Prix the Carlin Buzz Racing team will feature two rookies in its line up; both Sargeant and Drugovich have spent the season racing with the team in the FIA Formula Three Championship so have experience of the car however the race itself will be a whole new challenge. Meanwhile 2017 and 2018 Macau winner Ticktum will be using all of his race-winning experience as he looks to take an unprecedented hat trick of wins in the modern era.
Macau GP Rookie Logan Sargeant said, “Macau… what a track! I can’t wait to get there. Obviously as a rookie I have plenty of challenges in front of me, but I look to tackle them as best I can. Seeing so many successful drivers who have raced there in the past and have done really well is an extra incentive for me to push to do the same,”
Fellow rookie, and 2018 Euroformula Open Champion, Drugovich added, “I am very happy to compete in Macau because it has always been a dream for me to race there. Many drivers say that it is the best track to race on because of the elevation change and high-speed corners so I can’t wait to try it for myself. It will be a challenge because it’s my first time driving a street circuit but I’m always up for a challenge and I will learn a lot from it.”
Two-time Macau Grand Prix race winner Ticktum said, “I wasn’t sure if I’d have the chance to return to Macau again and so to be able to come back with Carlin this year is very exciting. Macau is the most incredible circuit and obviously I’ve been a race winner there in the past so that is obviously the aim again this year. It’s a really exciting challenge for me driving the new FIA F3 car for the first time in Macau, but hopefully I can get to grips with that and the Pirelli rubber quickly.”
