Carlin is pleased to confirm that Julian Hanses will join the team’s FIA Formula Three European Championship squad at the Red Bull Ring this weekend, and for the remainder of the 2018 season. German racer Hanses makes a welcome return to the highly competitive championship with Carlin and will be looking to hit the ground running using his previous experience in the series as he re-joins the field.
The 21-year-old FIA Formula Three rookie already has experienced gained in the car having competed in the first half of the season however has had to sit out three rounds since Spa-Francorchamps and is now looking forward to returning to the cockpit at the Red Bull Ring and season finale, Hockenheim. Already a point-scorer in the series, Hanses has been working hard with the team and spent time at their UK-based factory with his race engineer working through a detailed simulator session in anticipation of the Austrian round.
Hanses said of the upcoming race weekend, “I’m pleased to be back in the championship with Carlin and looking forward to getting back in the car after a little while away. I think the championship and the car is a great platform for drivers and a competitive field which is great for a driver.
“I’m excited to be joining Carlin because they have a great history in the sport. Looking ahead to the weekend, I know that the Red Bull Ring is in no way easy. I have driven the track already when I raced in Formula 4 and I am highly motivated to attack again”
The race weekend will get underway on Friday with two free practice periods followed by a first qualifying session that afternoon. Saturday will consist of the opening race of the weekend and a second qualifying session while Sunday features two action-packed races to enjoy.
