Carlin Motorsport celebrate 143 race wins

Oliver Oakes' win in the opening round of the Formula BMW Great Britain series at Brands Hatch in 2006 proved to be a landmark victory for his Carlin Motorsport team as it was the Aldershot team's 100th race win in all categories since the team's first win in 1999.

This remarkable achievement was established through 71 British F3 wins, 11 International F3 wins, 8 Nissan/Renault World Series wins, 9 Formula BMW wins and a single win in the Porsche Super Cup.

Team Principals Trevor Carlin and Martin Stone where delighted with Oliver Oakes' landmark win. "Oliver's win is a seminal moment for our team. We started this venture in 1996, our first win came with Narain Karthikeyan at the Madras Grand Prix in 1999 and we truly had no idea then that we would go on to score a 100 victories in the next 7 years. " said Carlin.

Martin Stone was effusive in his praise for his work force.

"Motor racing is very much a team sport and these 100 victories have been achieved by great team work, solid preparation and with particular attention paid to detailed engineering. We have always tried to get the best out of our drivers by working with them, given them confidence through team support and by listening to their views on set-up. Trevor and I would like to thank all Carlin personnel who have contributed to this landmark achievement and it is our hope that this is only the first one hundred wins."

Since then, the team has gone on to win a further 26 races, and claim 29 podium positions in the 2007 season alone.  With race winning success in Formula BMW UK, British F3 and World Series by Renault, 2007 could see the team add several more wins to its impressive tally. 

Carlin Motorsport history:

With over 50 years experience in motorsport between them, from the lowest levels of the sport to F1, Trevor Carlin and Martin Stone have taken Carlin Motorsport from an eight man pit crew to one of the largest single seater teams outside F1. 

Founded in 1996 to operate a pit-stop challenge around Europe for the Williams F1 team, Carlin Motorsport has expanded rapidly to compete in nearly all levels of single-seater motorsport.  

The team entered its first full season of racing in 1999, with Narain Karthikeyan in British F3.  The team went on to win six races that season, signalling the potential that would make Carlin the most successful team in British F3 history. 

Since then, Carlin has gone on to compete in Porsche Supercup, Nissan World Series, Formula BMW UK and World Series by Renault, all with race winning success. 

With an enviable reputation across all levels of single seater racing, Carlin is the team of choice for tomorrow's racing stars - providing a well-trodden staircase to F1. 

In just eight years of competition, Carlin Motorsport have won 130 races, claimed 280 podium positions and won three British F3 championships.   A key theme at Carlin Motorsport is the development and training of young drivers.  Whatever the level of motorsport or the age of the driver, Carlin always aim to give their race drivers the equipment to be able to challenge for race wins. 

Over 150 drivers have passed through the doors of Carlin Motorsport - many on their way to the highest echelons of the sport.  Carlin has played an integral role in the careers of F1 drivers such as Takuma Sato, Narain Karthikeyan, Anthony Davidson, Nico Rosberg, Robert Kubica and Sebastian Vettel.  

The team continues to grow and expand in 2007; the purchase of the former Brabham F1 factory at Chessington, Surrey, adding an important new element to Carlin Motorsport.  The impressive facility features a wind tunnel and is the base for Carlin Advanced Technologies, an associate company which focuses on the team's technological development.  Chessington is also home to the team's World Series by Renault cars.
