Carlin is pleased to confirm that Tasanapol ‘Tern’ Inthraphuvasak will join the team in the F4 British Championship this year.  The 15-year-old Thai driver will contest the F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost with the multiple-winning championship team for his first season of racing in the UK.  Inthraphuvasak completes Carlin’s four car line-up for the 2021 season.

Fresh from the Formula 4 United Arab Emirates Championship, Inthraphuvasak has joined Carlin for pre-season testing ahead of the season opener at Thruxton on 8 – 9 April May.  The young driver has wasted no time getting up to speed this year, having already completed the F4 UAE Championship earlier this season.  Inthraphuvasak finished fifth overall in the championship taking three podiums in total following races at Dubai and Yas Marina Circuits.  Previous to the Formula 4 UAE Championship, Inthraphuvasak spent the chaotic 2020 season focusing on Esports, following several seasons in karting.

Inthraphuvasak joins already announced driver Roman Bilinski, Kai Askey and Dougie Bolger in Carlin’s four car team and will be busy familiarising himself with UK circuits ahead of the season opener in May. The youngster was the fifth quickest driver at the first official test of the season earlier this week which took place around the challenging Brands Hatch circuit in Kent.

Speaking about the season ahead, Inthraphuvasak said, “I’m very excited to be racing with Carlin this year in the F4 British Championship.  I know I will learn a lot over the coming season and that I have a great team around me to help push me.  I really enjoyed starting the season in the F4 UAE Championship and know I already have a lot more experience than I did a few months ago.

“There will be lots to learn this year for example all of the circuits are new to me, but we will work together to be in the best shape possible for the start of the season. I can’t wait to get racing again.”

Team Principal Trevor Carlin commented, “We’re delighted to welcome Tern to the team.  It’s wonderful that once again the F4 British Championship is attracting drivers from outside the UK and outside Europe. It is the perfect environment for young drivers across the world to learn their craft and gain a huge amount of track time on a variety of circuits.

“Tern and his management are pushing to get as much track time as possible and his participation in the F4 UAE Championship will no doubt have helped him develop and improve his race craft.  We look forward to working with him over the coming season.”

The 2021 F4 British Championship will feature 10 rounds, including 30 races in total.  The season will get underway at the Thruxton Circuit in Hampshire in May and conclude with the traditional season finale at Brands Hatch in October.
