The programme will see the team travel to and compete in China, Australia, Malaysia and Thailand. Thunderhead Carlin Racing are also thrilled to confirm that Jack Manchester will continue at the helm of the entry as they take on a new challenge in Asia.
Having already competed in the European Le Mans Series this season, the Thunderhead Carlin Racing team will launch headfirst into a whole new challenge as they take their Dallara P217 to the other side of the world and make their debut in the Asian Le Mans Series. The series will present four new circuits to the team, with a new tyre manufacturer to also contend with.
Manchester said of entering the Asian Le Mans Series, “This is going to be a new and exciting challenge for me and the whole team! I seriously cannot wait to tackle these circuits and enjoy some hard racing. I think it’s going to be a lot of fun to take on this series and it seems as though each of the tracks will offer something completely different to get to grips with.
“I’m thrilled that we get to continue the journey together and enter another brand new series as Thunderhead Carlin Racing; we’ve made huge strides in the European Le Mans Series this past season and I think we can really hit the ground running for the first round in Shanghai.”
Racing director Trevor Carlin said of the announcement, “This is a fantastic step going forward for the team and entering a new and exciting championship in Asia. We have been competing in the European Le Mans Series and really enjoyed seeing Jack improve his race craft and deliver some great drives so I’m looking forward continuing that relationship in this championship. We have built a good team and I have no doubt that we can push for great results in this new challenge.”
The season will begin at the end of November with the 4 hours of Shanghai before the championship heads to Australia, Malaysia and Thailand in the new year. The full schedule is as follows:
22nd – 24th November 2019 – Shanghai, China
10th – 12th January 2020 – Tailem Bend, South Australia
14th – 15th February 2020 – Sepang, Malaysia
21st – 23rd February 2020 – Buriram, Thailand
