Zak O’Sullivan is the latest signing to Carlin’s championship winning British F4 team.

The 14-year-old racer is the fourth and final driver to be announced in the team’s 2020 line-up joining Matias Zagazeta, Marijn Kremers and Christian Mansell.

2020 F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost will be O’Sullivan’s first season in single-seaters following a strong karting career in Europe.  Claiming the rookie championship in British Super One and finishing first overall in the British GP Kartmasters Championship in 2016, O’Sullivan moved into European karting in 2017. A season in the CIK European OKJ Championship and the WSK European Championship resulted in 10th and 9th places respectively.  O’Sullivan made further progress the next season bettering his 2017 effort with 6th overall in WSK European Championship.

A season in the Ginetta Junior Championship in 2019 proved to be a successful debut in cars with O’Sullivan racking up three wins on his way to become rookie champion and placing second overall.

Speaking about his season ahead, O’Sullivan said,

“Obviously it’s a great opportunity to be with a team like Carlin, with all the history they have.  I have the benefit of knowing the tracks from doing Ginetta last year, which is going to be an advantage, but obviously there’s also going to be drivers going into their second year in F4 who will be even more experienced.  Hopefully if all goes well, if we do our preparation right we should be fighting near the front straight away, that’s the aim.”

Trevor Carlin added,

“Zak has made a great start to his 2020 season preparations.  He’s been very focused on the testing programme and is already showing some really promising pace.  He will be up against some quick second year drivers, but I’m sure he will be a credit to the team both on and off the track as the season unfolds.”
